About Us

The Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR) provides comprehensive emergency management services for Tulane University to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against the adverse impacts of disasters regardless of type, scale, or causality. OEPR conducts risk assessments to maintain current knowledge of the hazards facing the University and develops adaptable plans to address them. OEPR coordinates with Tulane’s various departments as well as local, state, and federal partners to fulfill our mission and actualize our vision.

Our Mission

Providing Tulane University a solid yet flexible Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response structure, positioned to provide for the best possible safety and welfare of the faculty, staff, and students through the preservation of life, health, property, and environment.

Our Vision

Position Tulane University so as to gain national recognition amongst universities and our local, state, and federal partners as the flagship program in providing excellence in disaster readiness and resilience. Additionally, acknowledgment as a model of excellence in providing services through preparedness, response, recovery, and business continuity activities will round out Tulane as an organization that is a national leader in providing education and training to prepare the community for those unforeseen events.
