Scott Chauvin

Scott joined the Tulane University team in August 2022 as the Emergency Coordinator. As the Emergency Management Coordinator, Scott works to prepare for, prevent and lessen the hardships that are faced during emergencies. The role includes maintaining the Emergency operations spaces, reviewing, and revising emergency operations plans, and preparing for and analyzing damage assessment both prior to and after a disaster.

Prior to working at Tulane, Scott worked for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Michoud Assembly Facility. After a year as a Protective services officer for NASA, Scott entered the roll as the NASA Emergency Operations Coordinator. During his time with NASA, he gained experience in physical security, writing and implementing emergency plans, emergency exercises, maintaining the site emergency info page as well as notification systems, and stood as EOC command in the absence of the site emergency management director. Prior to working at NASA, he spent, 10+ years as a police officer where he gained experience working with individuals of all walks of life, honed his decision making and incident command skills while developing his devotion to his community.

Scott has a Bachelor of Arts in Business and is currently working towards a master’s in occupational health and safety. He is a certified Louisiana Emergency Manager (LEM), a Military Emergency Management Specialist (MEMS), American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor, and is certified through FEMA in their Professional Development series for Emergency Management.
